How can i get my speakers to work properly?

I have a Compaq Presario, and Altec Lansing stereo speakers, but i cant get them to work. I’m pretty sure theres nothing wrong with the speakers, becuase there are speakers built in to my moniter, and even those werent working before i got the stereo ones. i have done all those control panal device manager things. I wnet thorugh every troubleshooting thing and nothing worked. nothing is muted, and we just had these same speakers and everything worked fine.
i dont think my sound device is in the device manager.. how am i supposed to get it there
there are 7 things there, which ones should i delete

got to your device manager and check to see if they are installed right if not you can click trouble shoot and fix the problem.
